Three of Shacharim’s women are mentioned by name, Hushim , Baara , and Hodesh , in the Book of Chronicles 1, Chapter 8-9.
This description in the Book of Chronicles begins with the mention of Shacharim’s name, the names of his wives, and his nine sons, and concludes with the count of three of his grandsons.
From this passage, we learn that some members of the family were born on the east side of the Jordan River, and their descendants moved westward and settled in the land of Lod and Ono. This might also suggest that Shacharim lived in Moab for some time.
Hushim
Hushim bore two children to Shacharim, ” Abitub and Elpaal.”
Hushim is also the name of the only son of Dan, and the mention of Hushim as one of Shacharim’s wives suggests an intermingling of families from the tribe of Dan into the tribe of Benjamin during the days of Hezekiah or Josiah (source: Encyclopaedia Biblica, 1 Chronicles 126).
Hodesh
She bore him seven sons with unique names: “Jobab, and Zibia, and Mesha, and Malcam; and Jeuz, and Sachiah, and Mirmah.” (1 Chronicles 1:9-10).
The name implies that she was born on the new moon, as “Hodesh ” means “month” in Hebrew.
Baara
In the pottery from Samaria, Be’era appears as a man’s name.
The name may mean a contraction of a compound name, possibly “Ba’al Ra’ah,” which means “The Lord has seen.”
